Kids Against Cavities dental program is coming to the Columbia School District!
Family First Health will offer dental care in school during the school day using mobile dental equipment. In order for students to receive dental care, the student must return a signed consent form to the school nurse.
This signed consent form will allow for three visits during the school year.
1st visit: Exam, x-rays, cleaning, and fluoride treatment
2nd visit: Hands-on brushing and flossing instruction, and sealant placement
3rd visit: 6 month exam, cleaning, and fluoride
Students with no cavities never need to go into the office and can continue to receive dental care at school.
Students with cavities will be able to follow-up at Family First Dental soon-to-open office located at 430 Walnut Street in Columbia. When a student needs to visit the 430 Walnut Street office, their records from school will already be there because their computers in the office and at school are connected.
Benefits:
- Students will miss less time from school
- Parents miss less time from work
- Improved oral health due to regular visits with the dentist

FAQs for Parents:
Do I need to be there for my child to receive care?
No. Parents do not need to be there for their child to receive care, but we will need a completed permission slip filled out ahead of time. This form will be distributed by and returned to the school nurse.
Does my insurance get billed?
Yes. Please include your insurance information on the purple registration form. If you need help with registering or do not have insurance please call 717-845-8617 or email KAC@familyfirsthealth.org
How will I know when Family First Health has visited my child’s school and what was done?
Your child will be given a take-home report a few days after an event notifying you what was done, what we found, if any next steps are required of you, and the appropriate contact information.
